Your footwear may cause toenail fungus
Several factors may cause or contribute to foot and toenail fungus. Wearing closed-toe shoes, especially those that are narrow in the toe box, can cause trauma to your toenails, which can weaken your nails and make them more susceptible to a toenail fungal infection.

Your first clue that your pair of shoes, boots, or sneakers need disinfecting may be their unpleasant odor or when a family member insists you leave your stinky, smelly shoes outside the house. Sweaty feet, athlete’s foot and toenail fungus are the usual suspects. Sprinkle antifungal powder in your shoes.
Fungus loves to grow in warm, wet places. It also spreads easily from person to person and that’s why it is important to wear shower shoes or flip flops around public areas such as pools, locker rooms, gyms, and showers.
it is essential to keep your socks and shoes clean. Put on a clean pair of socks every day. Change your socks or shoes as soon as possible if your feet get sweaty or wet.
If you wear closed footwear, choose the right kind. Fungus thrives in warm areas where your feet are cooped up inside tight, hot shoes and socks. To check if you have the right footwear, make sure yours aren’t too snug and they give your feet room to breathe. For materials, it’s best to choose shoes made of leather or socks made of synthetic fibers that absorb moisture away from your feet.
